Spiced Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 14 T. softened unsalted butter, divided
  • 3/4 c. packed nighttime brownish sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 3/4 c. white whole-wheat flour
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
  1. In a small-scale saucepan, melt 10 tablespoons of the butter over medium-high heat. Cook until the butter turns golden brown, virtually 3 to four minutes. Pour into a large mixing bowl. Add the remaining four tablespoons of butter as well as stir until melted.
